Rachel Payne, MA MFT, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate

It is my passion and hope to walk alongside individuals, adolescents, couples, and families as they seek healing and transformation in their lives, relationships, and within themselves. My goal is always to provide a safe place where clients can explore, discover, and grow.
I treat a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, divorce, eating issues, anger, loss, life transitions, maladaptive coping behaviors, and unhealthy relational patterns. To support this work, I draw from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Family Systems Theory, Attachment Theory, and Narrative Therapy. I am also trained in Brainspotting, a powerful therapy that helps the brain and body process trauma and triggers at a deep level—often described as more effective than EMDR for many clients.
For 15 years, I have served in church-based recovery and 12-step ministry, facilitating groups and mentoring people through struggles with addiction, trauma, anxiety, depression, family, and marital issues. I am a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator for premarital and marital couples, and I have also worked as a fitness instructor and health coach, tailoring wellness programs for whole-person health.
I have been married for 22 years and am the mother of three children. My faith as a Christian is the foundation for all I believe and how I live my life—rooted in God’s Word and His amazing grace. Beyond my professional life, I am a writer of things, a lover of beauty, a truth seeker, adventurer, hiker, wonder chaser, hug giver, and hope harbinger. These values flow naturally into the way I counsel, offering a balance of compassion, honesty, creativity, and practical tools for lasting transformation

Starting therapy can be a vulnerable step, and I honor the courage it takes to reach out. As a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, I create a safe and supportive space where you can be yourself, without judgment. I work with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, OCD, relationship challenges, and life transitions, among other experiences. I believe therapy is a collaborative process. You are the expert on your life, and I bring tools, perspective, and a deep sense of empathy to help you move toward healing and growth. I genuinely care about my clients and strive to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered.
Whether you are overwhelmed by day-to-day stress or working through something more complex, I am here to walk alongside you. My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and rooted in evidence-based practices that I tailor to fit your unique needs.
My therapeutic style is empathic, collaborative, and genuine. My clients often tell me they feel safe, supported, and accepted from our very first session. I believe that connection is at the heart of healing, and I strive to show up as a real person in the room with you. I look forward to hearing your story!
In addition to my clinical work as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, I also provide life coaching for individuals seeking growth, direction, or support outside of a traditional mental health framework. I especially enjoy working with college students and young adults and offer virtual sessions to make therapy and coaching more accessible during this dynamic stage of life.
I am a wife and mother of three. My family and I lived all over the United States and in Europe until a few years ago when my husband retired from the United States Air Force. My experiences as an Air Force wife have shaped who I am as a therapist and contributed to my ability to connect with different people. I attended Texas A&M and Old Dominion University, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I graduated with a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University in August 2024.
“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with our God.” Micah 6:8
